【摘要】:Allmaterialsonexterioraircraftsurfacesaresubjecttoabrasionfromairborneparticlesofvarioussizesandshapes.Transparentmaterialsareparticularlyvulnerabletoabrasion,sincetheirperformanceisbasedontheirabilitytotransmitlightwithaminimalamountofscatter.Scratches,pitting,andcoatingremovalanddelaminationasaresultofabrasionmayincreasescatter,reducetransmission,anddegradetheperformanceoftransparentmaterials.Visuallytransparentmaterialsarerequiredforpilotandaircrewenclosures,suchascanopies,windshields,andviewpoints.MaterialstransparentintheIRregion(8to12x03BC;m)arerequiredfortracking,targeting,andnavigationalinstrumentation.ThistestmethodisintendedtoprovideacalibratedandrepeatablemeansofdeterminingtherelativeabrasionresistanceofmaterialsandcoatingsforopticalandIRtransparentmaterialsandcoatings.Thetestparametersforthistestmethodcanbedirectlyrelatedtodustclouddensitiesandvelocitiestowhichtransparentmaterialsareexposedinthefield.1.1Thistestmethodcoverstheresistanceoftransparentplasticsandcoatingsusedinaerospacewindscreens,canopies,andviewportstosurfaceerosionasaresultofdustimpingement.Thistestmethodsimulatesflightthroughadefinedparticlecloudenvironmentbymeansofindependentcontrolofparticlesize,velocity,impactangle,massloading,andtestduration.1.2Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
