【摘要】:Thispracticeisparticularlyusefulfordeterminingthedischargeatagagingstationoralocationwheredischargeinformationisrepeatedlyneeded.Thispracticeisapplicableonlyforopen-channelflowconditionswherechannelhydraulicspermitastablerelationbetweenstageanddischarge.1.1Thispracticecoversthedevelopmentofacurverelatingstage(elevation)todischarge.Standardtestmethodshavebeendocumentedformeasuringdischargeandformeasuringstage(seePracticeD3858,andTestMethodsD5129,D5130,D5243,D5388,andD5413).Thispracticetakesthedischargeandstagedeterminedbyeachrespectivetestmethodandshowsarelationbetweenthemusingacurvedline.Thiscurvedlineiscalledastage-dischargerelationorratingcurve.1.2Theproceduresdescribedinthispracticeareusedcommonlybythoseresponsibleforinvestigationsofstreamflow,forexample,theU.S.GeologicalSurvey,ArmyCorpsofEngineers,BureauofReclamation,andU.SAgricultureResearchService.Forthemostpart,theseproceduresareadaptedfromreportsoftheU.S.GeologicalSurvey.,1.3Theproceduresdescribedinthispracticeapplyonlytosimplefreelyflowingopen-channelflow.Ratingsforcomplexhydraulicconditionsofextremelylowslopechannelsusingmultiple-stageinputs,channelsaffectedbyman-inducedregulation,ortidalconditionsarenotdescribed.ThesetypesofratingsaredescribedindetailinthedocumentslistedinFootnotes2and3.1.4Thispracticeusestheresultsofcurrent-meterdischargemeasurementsorindirectdischargemeasurementsandthecorrespondingmeasuredstagetodefineasmuchofthestage-dischargerelationcurveaspossible.Atheoreticalcurveisdevelopedforthefullrangeofstageanddischargetoshapethecurve.1.5Thevaluesstatedininch-poundunitsaretoberegardedasstandard.ThevaluesgiveninparenthesesaremathematicalconversionstoSIunitsthatareprovidedforinformationonlyandarenotconsideredstandard.1.6Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
