【摘要】:ThispartofISO639providestwosetsofthree-letteralphabeticcodesfortherepresentationofnamesoflanguages,oneforterminologyapplicationsandtheotherforbibliographicapplications.Thecodesetsarethesameexceptfortwenty-fivelanguagesthathavevariantlanguagecodesbecauseofthecriteriausedforformulatingthem(see4.1).Thelanguagecodesweredevisedoriginallyforusebylibraries,informationservices,andpublisherstoindicatelanguageintheexchangeofinformation,especiallyincomputerizedsystems.Thesecodeshavebeenwidelyusedinthelibrarycommunityandmaybeadoptedforanyapplicationrequiringtheexpressionoflanguageincodedformbyterminologistsandlexicographers.Thealpha-2codesetwasdevisedforpracticaluseformostofthemajorlanguagesoftheworldthataremostfrequentlyrepresentedinthetotalbodyoftheworld'sliterature.Additionallanguagecodesarecreatedwhenitbecomesapparentthatasignificantbodyofliteratureinaparticularlanguageexists.Languagesdesignedexclusivelyformachineuse,suchascomputerprogramminglanguages,arenotincludedinthiscode.
